Troubled comedian Artie Lange stabbed himself nine times in his Hoboken, N.J., apartment before his mother discovered him and called 911.
Law enforcement officers tell the New York Post that Artie, Howard Stern's longtime radio sidekick, sustained six "hesitation wounds" and three deep cuts on Saturday.
A source close to Artie's management team also confirms that he stabbed himself, adding that the comic's mom had to visit him every day to drop off food.

Despite his injuries, surgeons managed to save Artie, who has a history of battling substance abuse.
He has Howard's full support during his recovery. "We all have our demons," the shock jock said on-air this week, "Artie has given this show tremendous moments of great comedy. He's a tremendous contributor. He is a good man. Don't forget how great he is."
