So Zoie has gotten her first cold this week — I guess it was bound to happen.

But we’ve been to the doctor once already and we're going back again in just a little while.  She’s got the stuffy nose, coughing, sneezing, the whole bit. It’s so hard to be a mom and see your little one not feeling good and know that there’s really not much you can do except wipe their nose and give them extra hugs.

With her sick though, that’s definitely taken up the last couple days of our time. Cody and I did go to the release of the new EA sports game, Facebreaker. It’s a really cool new boxing game and Cody had fun since he’s really into the video games.

We got a Nintendo Wii being sent to us from the event as a gift, I’m way excited for that! I want to get the workout mat that goes along with it, mix my regime up a little. And the bowling and tennis look fun too! Finally a way to play video games and actually burn a few calories while you’re doing it.

There are a few other events that we were scheduled to do, but with Zoie not feeling hot, I think we may just stay home with her. I started doing a scrapbook for her too, it’s really turning out cute! While I was out running errands the other day, Cody did a page for her and put it in there. I think it’s something she’ll really enjoy looking at when she gets older.

Well, it’s off to the doctor again. I think she has to get some shots today too, I think they’re worse for me and Cody than they are for her! Although it’s nothing that a lot of hugs and kisses won’t fix.

It’s so nice to be home!

After two weeks away, I realize how much I enjoy being in my own house. But the unpacking after we got back was an all-week process. It always seems that you come home from somewhere with more stuff than you left with!

Now that we’re all settled in and Zoie is back on California time, life is basically back to normal. This week, Cody and I had one of the network meetings for our reality show.  It went great! It was a tad unconventional though, since we were running late and couldn’t get to the babysitter, Zoie came with us to the meeting!

I think she actually added some lightness to the room since those things can be sort of tense at times. She was putting on the charm and smiling at all the execs in the room, so that helped a lot! We will be having a few more meetings with different networks than we will know for sure which one we’ll be going with and when we will be shooting. Exciting!

The next day we went to an event for the March of Dimes where we are being honored this year in their “Stork Club.” They have a big fundraiser every year in September where they recognize couples who’ve had babies the past year.  This was the small luncheon before that event where we got to meet the other honorees. It was very fun and again, Zoie was the hit of the party! She’s gotten out quite a lot the past few weeks.

Cody and I also made a hugely important purchase this week, which any of you new parents will understand — a new mattress!! We had the worst one ever! It had sagged so much, it was literally like sleeping in a hammock at night. We just bought a Kingsdown mattress and last night it got delivered. I slept like a baby, really!

Then my parents are spending the holiday weekend with us since they went through major withdrawals having not seen Zoie for a couple weeks. Cody and I went with my mom and his mom to the casino yesterday and had a little fun while my dad watched the baby. No big jackpots, but I had fun on that silly Monopoly slot machine.

This next week it’s time to get back out to some events, have more meetings and fit in my workout schedule somewhere. But I’m happy to report — I’m back in my size 26 jeans! Man, has it been a while since I could say that! Now if I can keep from blowing it at a Labor Day BBQ…

Well, my time in North Carolina is coming to an end!

It’s been really fun though, but a lot of work. I tried to do my best with eating healthy while I was here, but I didn’t get to work out much at all. With me, Cody and Zoie in a little studio apartment and being gone about 12 hours a day, I've had no time or room to keep up with my workout regimen.

Yet somehow, I feel like I’ve lost some weight. My pants are a bit looser — I have no idea how it happened, but I’m not asking any questions! Now when I get home, I’m going to hop back on the treadmill and keep up with my program a lot better!

I did bring my Nutrisystem with me though and was able to bring it to the set most days. Thank goodness the food is really easy to take wherever you go, that really saved me from eating some of the unhealthy craft service food!

These past couple of weeks seem to have gone quickly and now I can’t wait to get home.  It was like a little vacation for the family, but I think going home and laying in my own bed will be the best part. Cody started his drive home late last night in hopes that he’ll arrive back at about the same time as I do this weekend.

Ah, home sweet home!!

Hey everyone!

I'm here in North Carolina on the set of my first feature film, Port City!

I'll write more later, but here are a couple of photos I can share with you now:

From left to right, that's Andy Brown the writer/director of the film; me; our producer Heath Franklin, and John Wesley Schipp who plays "George" — and don't forget our sound guy Nate behind us with the boom mic!
