What I would say to parents who are no longer together but are co-hosting birthday or holiday parties is to remember that it’s about the kids, not about them or their relationship. Conversations should be kept light and focused on the event at hand, not the past. A child’s birthday party is not the time to discuss anything that might be controversial or emotional. Instead, both parents should relax and show their children that even though their relationship is different now, their love for their children remains strong and undivided.

WHAT WOULD THE COUNTESS DO?: PREPARING FOR JOB INTERVIEWS; CELEBS HELPING CELEBS

There have been a rash of suicides by LGBT teens after being bullied. Any words of wisdom for teens in bullying situations?

The best advice I can give to bullied teens is that they are not alone and that they should talk to an understanding parent or other adult who can help them. If one adult doesn’t take the bullying seriously, it is crucial that they find someone who will listen and then take action on their behalf. Also, I want to say to these children that this is not the way life will be forever but that they have to stay alive to see how great life can be once they reach adulthood and find friends who will accept and love them for who they are.

Tip: A confident child is less apt to be bullied. Parents, encourage your children to become involved in sports or other activities that will build their self-esteem and that foster supportive friendships.
