Just when we were all getting comfortable with the new format, a wrench is thrown into the mix. To our surprise, the five eliminated contestants from the first challenge come back for their very own weigh-in — which we witnessed.
Truthfully, I wasn’t really rooting for any of them except Montina because she was at the Venice beach challenge and we had become friends. All of us are trying to make it to the end and with a contestant coming back, that reduces our chances so it’s no shocker that none of us wanted anyone back.
When Anna won the weigh-in, I was really impressed with her because she was able to lose 39 pounds all on her own! I was actually happy she decided to join our team. I figure with her work ethic, she would definitely pull huge numbers for us. And from last night’s episode, her decision not to choose immunity turned out to not be an issue. She was nowhere near the chopping block. But hearing everyone’s commentary about the immunity was definitely entertaining — especially Jesse’s comment. “I mean, she seems like an intelligent person… no one has a lick of loyalty to her.”
So right off the bat, both teams are thinking, “What can we do to get Patrick…” and the game-play begins. Patrick is a STRONG competitor. It’d be silly NOT to want him on your team. But there was just SO much drama surrounding the topic of “throwing the weigh-in” that the black team decided it was more trouble than it was worth. It’s too hard to predict how the opposing team is going to do and guarantee that you’ll finish below them in order to get Patrick.
At the challenge, I got into an intense competition mode. It was the first challenge I got to participate in while on the Ranch and I wanted to make sure I didn’t let my team down. There was a ton of pressure not to be the weakest link! But our win was bittersweet. It really pained us to see the defeated look on the blue team’s faces — especially Lisa because I knew how badly she wanted those letters. Being separated from her kids that long really took a toll on her. When we decided to share our win with the blue team, we forgot about the game, the colors, and we were once again one team… at least for a little while.
Our first team elimination was by far the toughest one I’ve been involved in. I realized then that we must win every weigh-in because the feeling of voting off your own team member really sucks. We spent all this time bonding as a team and now we have to get rid of someone. I had no choice but to think about the whole situation objectively and Rick, unfortunately was a HUGE threat. He even admitted it when he said, “The next time you see me, I’ll be $100,000 richer.” He knew he was a force to be reckoned with… and I have to hand it to him, he does look phenomenal!
