Former American Idol rivals Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard are teaming up for a new tour and with their talent for singing and joking they’re comparing themselves to another famous performing duo…
The pair, who duked it out for the American Idol season two crown, will sing more than 60 songs together and exchanging jokes between numbers, reports ET Online.
In fact, Clay says the onstage banter he shares with the Velvet Teddy Bear evokes great entertainment acts in showbiz history, such as, “Sonny and Cher,” he says.
“I’ve compared us to old variety acts in the past,” Clay says.
“But you couldn’t say the Rat Pack though — you had to say Sonny and Cher?” Ruben asks?
“There’s some stuff we do on our own and then we’ll do a lot of stuff together — that was one of the things we wanted to make sure we did,” Clay explains.
“We’re on stage together about 85 percent of the time and the only time we’re off stage is when we have to take a rest.”
The “Timeless” tour, kicks off tonight in Asheville, North Carolina.
