When news broke that Adam Yauch of Beastie Boys had succombed to cancer at the age of 47, it shocked fans and musicians alike, including Coldplay.
On Friday night, the British band paid tribute to Adam when they performed at the Hollywood Bowl. They played a mellow version of the Boys' breakthrough hit, "(You gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)," and then Chris Martin called out the fallen singer's name and said he's "sending all their love to the Beastie Boys."
Adam was also known as MCA and had battled throat cancer the past three years. May he rest in peace.
