The 54th Annual Grammy Awards had everything — Katy Perry dissing Russell Brand with her performance, Adele's phenomenal triumphant return, Sir Paul McCartney, and of course, tributes to the late Whitney Houston.

Jennifer Hudson had less than 24 hours to rehearse given Whitney's untimely passing, and was reportedly still heartbroken on stage. Apparently Jennifer sobbed during rehearsal; it appears the two singers had a close relationship. In 2009, Whitney presented the American Idol alum with the Grammy for Best R&B Album.

As LL Cool J opened the show with a prayer for the late singer, there's no denying there were heavy hearts at the Staples Center. As Jennifer took the stage, she did her own version of "I Will Always Love You."

According to RadarOnline, J. Hud looked emotional when she sang the song but kept her composure by ending the Dolly Parton-written song with lyrics of her own: "We will always love you."
