Lady Gaga was forced to cancel a concert in Jakarta, Indonesia, after Islamic groups objected to her show; one group, the Islamic Defenders Front, threatened to stop Gaga from getting off her plane. Police, in turn, refused to issue the pop star a permit, and the show, which was scheduled for June 3, has been canceled.
"Lady Gaga's management has considered the situation minute to minute, and with threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga's side is calling off the concert," Minola Sebayang, lawyer for promoters Big Daddy, told reporters. Refunds will be offered to all ticket-holders.
This is not the first time Gaga has faced objections during her tour; after protests from Christian groups in Seoul, South Korea, her concert was revamped as an adults-only event. She also encountered Christian protestors in the Philippines, who called her music blasphemous.
