The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 opened in theaters Nov. 16 and nabbed the top spot at the box office for the weekend with an estimated $141.3 million.

No one is surprised that Twilight was the most profitable film of the weekend, but it is a little surprising that it failed to make as much money as New Moon, which raked in $154 million in November 2009.

When Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart broke up last summer, many wondered if the end of the real-life love story would affect how much fans would want to see the conclusion of their on-screen relationship. Most critics agreed that it would not make a difference in ticket sales, and it looks like they were right, even if the final installment failed to surpass the numbers of New Moon.
