Melissa McCarthy’s curvy figure has not stunted her rise in Hollywood, in fact it has been refreshing to have more diversity on the screen showing that all actresses do not have to be stick thin.
But the Bridesmaids star says that although she is comfortable in her skin, there are times that she wishes she was smaller and didn’t have to deal with the weight issue.
“Sometimes I wish I were magically a size 6 and I never had to give [my weight] a single thought,” Melissa told Good Housekeeping.
“But I am weirdly healthy, so I don’t beat myself up about it – it wouldn’t help, and I don’t want to pass that on to my girls.”
Melissa stays healthy by playing tennis and doing Pilates and tries to eat as nutritiously as possible.
“I don’t really know why I’m not thinner than I am,” she questioned. “I don’t really drink soda, I don’t have a sweet tooth, and we eat healthfully at home.”
Melissa is currently working on designing a plus-sized clothing line but says that despite the varying sizes of her friends and family, no one she knows is happy with their physique.
“Pretty much everyone I know, no matter what size, is trying some system,” she shared. “Even when someone gets to looking like she should be so proud of herself, instead she’s like, ‘I could be another three pounds less; I could be a little taller and have bigger lips. Where does it end?”
Melissa added that she has a good attitude towards it and doesn’t stress herself out about losing the weight.
“You just have to say, ‘It’s pretty damn good. I am right here at the moment and I’m OK with it. I’ve got other things to think about.’”
