Yikes! Does Kate Middleton need to visit a dentist?

OK! NEWS: PRINCE WILLIAM AND KATE MIDDLETON ENJOY TENNIS MATCHES AT WIMBLEDON

The New Republic likely elicited many double-takes at the newsstand with their August cover featuring the Duchess of Cambridge sporting a set of yellowed, rotten teeth.

The Photoshopped image is a nod to the age-old joke about Great Britain's poor dental hygiene that's led to many wisecracks about "British smiles."

While the accompanying article, "Something's Rotten: The Last Days of Great Britain" has nothing to with Kate or teeth —it's about the country's state while hosting the Summer Olympics this month — many Brits are outraged at the image, calling it "really mean" and "not fair."

OK! NEWS: WILL KATE MIDDLETON SLEEP ON THE STREETS WITH HOMELESS PEOPLE FOR CHARITY?

What are your thoughts? Acceptable? Or did the magazine crudely cross the line?
