Health expert and fitness guru Jillian Michaels is famous for her success as a physical trainer and mentor on NBC’s hit reality show, The Biggest Loser, and now she is taking her knowledge one step further to help people slim down and improve their quality of life in a brand new reality show of her own!
Losing It With Jillian — premiering tonight on NBC — is a new life-changing reality series documenting the trial of various people as they try to lose weight following Jillian’s strict regime while receiving her support and compassion along the way!
In tonight’s premiere episode, Jillian moves in with the Mastropietro family of Wilmington, Ma., providing them with a “wake-up call” that will change their lives from the inside out.
The celeb trainer cracks down hard on the family, shocked by their eating habits. In true Jillian fashion, she puts the family through a grueling first workout.
Jillian also finds the emotional root to the family’s health problems, when she discovers that the family weight gain began after the loss of their newborn son, Jimmy, over 20 years ago.
Head of the family, parents Jimbo and wife Agnes, also have a very special goal — they are looking forward to walking daughter Michelle down the aisle later this year, but due to their dangerous health problems they fear that won’t be a reality.
Agnes Mastropietro told OK! that she watched Jillian on The Biggest Loser and knew she was an amazing person; however, the trainer’s method can come across as intimidating at first.
“She scared the crap out of me,” Agnes admitted to OK!.
Agnes quickly learned through her experience on the show, that the fitness guru is not scary at all.
“Jillian is very compassionate,” the mother of the household said. “She truly cares about people. I think that certain people were put on this earth for a reason. Jillian was put on this earth to help people find the strength to go outside of their comfort zone. I know that she helped me.”
Agnes was on the verge of a gastric bypass surgery, and Jillian helped save her life.
“I needed to get healthy not only for me but also for my family.” she said. “If I kept on going I would not have been around for another 5 years.”
The routine was far from easy, but Agnes knows the benefits will restore her quality of life.
“At first I wanted to give up but Jillian would not let me,” Agens revealed. “She pushed me outside of my comfort zone and what I mean by that is when I used to go to the gym I would walk on the treadmill at 3.0 mph at no incline, Jillian would make me do a 7 incline at 5.0 mph.”
“She is tough but that is her job.”
To find out how Jillian will transform this family and if Jimbo and Agnes will make it down the aisle at Michelle’s wedding, tune in tonight at 10:00pm ET/PT on NBC.
