Rihanna may have made America her home but she is still a Bajan girl at heart and has done something very generous for her home country just in time for the holidays.

The 24-year-old Diamonds starlet has donated $1.75 million to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in honor of her late grandmother, she affectionately called Gran Gran Dolly, who sadly passed away this summer.

The hospital has now renamed its cancer treatment center the Clara Brathwaite Centre for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine.

"This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy, by assisting the QEH in its continued modernization program," Rihanna said.

"I believe that this will have a huge impact on the people of Barbados. This was all done to save lives, or at least extend them."

Rihanna was heartbroken by the passing of her maternal grandmother who she said "taught me a lot about forgiveness, loving my enemies, spirituality and strength as a woman."

Ri-Ri is taking a well deserved break on the island to spend Christmas with her family!
