In his first interview since crashing his jet ski accident in May, Sean Kingston revealed his life or death situation with one open heart surgery and two other surgeries! Thankfully, the “Beautiful Girls” performer feels good and is excited to be counting his blessings.
“I’m doing good. I’m feeling great. I’m excited. I’m happy,” he told MTV. “A lot of people don’t know it was a deeper situation. I had open heart surgery and I had two other surgeries; it was a life or death situation.”
The life or death situation resulted from going about 35 miles an hour; well, Sean miscalculated the height of the tide and collided with a bridge. Although he was being released from his hospital for crash-related injuries, turns out he was rushed into surgery because doctors discovered a heart condition. He recalled, “They were gonna send me home, but then I had felt a pain in my left chest, and I told my mom. They rushed me and they did a lot of scans on me, [and] they said I couldn’t leave.”
What exactly went wrong? Blood filled up into Sean’s chest and his aorta was torn. Although risks were pretty high, Sean went into surgery to fix the condition. Now the survivor has been taking it easy and he looks forward to the future. “I’m 100 percent right now,” he said. “I’ve been in the house chilling, about to start work on my new album….I got a story to tell now.”
A story which includes counting each moment as a gift. “What the accident basically taught me is, in life, you have to count your blessings,” he said. “You just got to keep God present at all times and think about the consequences.”
