The stars were out in full force last night at the world premiere of Disney’s The Sorcerer’s Apprentice at the New Amsterdam Theatre, home of Disney’s Mary Poppins.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice stars Nicolas Cage as master sorcerer Balthazar Blake and Jay Baruchel as an everyday guy who becomes his apprentice.
Nicolas spoke very highly of shooting the film in NYC saying, “It was incredible, I mean New York is the epi-center of my universe. Everything about this place, there are all kinds of people here, very diverse architecture that’s really powerful, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building. And then the energy in the street when I’m filming, I sense it, you know, even if it’s subconscious I think it informs the work. I made several movies here now, Moonstruck and World Trade Center and The Vampire’s Kiss and every time something good has happened.”
While Nic spoke very warmly of NYC, fellow celebrities were very complimentary of his power as well!
“I am quite possibly his biggest fan,” Danielle Staub of Real Housewives of New Jersey said. “The only reason I came well because my kids wanted to see the movie, was to see him. He’s one of the biggest talents, I think there is.”
Other talents there included Twilight’s Xavier Samuels who spoke to OK! about dealing with Twilight mania!
“It’s hard to even prepare for something like that,” Xavier explained. “You kind of just have to keep your head down and take it in your stride. But I think that Rob and Taylor and Kristen and a lot of the other cast really lead by example, you know, so I really try to take a lead out of their book.”
But did Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart help him out at all?
“Not really, I didn’t get any guidebook or anything like that,” he said. “I wish. That would have helped me out a little bit more.”
Xavier did say to OK! that he had an amazing time overseas with fellow vamp, Ashley Greene.
“We had a blast. The whole European trip was awesome,” Xavier shared. “We went to Madrid and Antwerp. There were lots of fans in Antwerp which was amazing, it was kind of a big surprise and London as well, which was amazing.”
Other stars in attendance included Sorcerer Mickey Mouse, Colin Egglesfield (Melrose Place), Cedric the Entertainer and Paul Iacono whose MTV show The Hard Times of RJ Berger, which premiered after the MTV Movie Awards, was just named worst show by the Parent’s Television Council, because as he told OK! it is “raunchy and not good for kids.”
Guess Mickey won’t be seeing it anytime soon!
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice premieres Friday, July 14 in theaters all across the country.
