The action star appeared on ABC's Good Morning America Tuesday to promote his upcoming film The Expendables 2, and when asked about his son Sly said, "It's tough. It's very very tough. It's a horrible situation but, time, hopefully will heal and you try to get through it. It's something that's a reality in life."

One of the things that is helping the 66-year-old get through this challenging time is focusing on work. "It's important to get back and try to start re-living your life. Otherwise you can go into a spiral," he explained.

The cause of death for the 36-year-old is still unknown, but it's believed he had been deceased three days prior to being found dead on July 13, 2012. Reports claimed Sage lived like a recluse and he frequently spent days alone in his room, which was "littered with junk." A law enforcement source added his room was "disgusting."

Other reports say Sage was "thinking of getting married" and that he was "was in good health, great spirits," before he died.

The Expendables 2 hits theaters Friday the 24th.
