Just last night, Whitney's body was flown from L.A. to New Jersey on a plane owned by Tyler Perry, and it looks like she will be laid to rest later this week. According to USA Today, a hearse under police escort arrived at Newark's Whigham Funeral Home, which also handled the funeral of Whitney's father in 2003.
Per Today, Whitney's family has decided against a public memorial for her at the sports arena and will hold an invitation-only service at the church where she first sang publicly. Her mother, singer Cissy Houston, still attends services there.
Carolyn Whigham, owner of the Whigham Funeral Home in Newark, told the press that there will be no wake, and instead a private funeral at noon Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, where Whitney got her start.
Her mother led the musical program at the church and Whitney's cousin, Dionne Warwick, also sang in the choir! Mourners have been attending the church in huge numbers since Whitney's untimely death last Saturday.
