It sounds like Will Ferrell isn’t very optimistic that Anchorman 2 will ever be made. Even with the outcry from fans, Will doesn’t think it will be enough to reunite the Channel 4 news team.
MTV News reported that after Will and Adam McKay‘s negotiations with Paramount fell through, they’ve now caught up with Will to get an update.
So now that there is such vocal support from fans, is Will optimistic Anchorman 2 will ever hit screens?
“Nope,” Will answered while promoting Everything Must Go at the Toronto International Film Festival. “Paramount, which is owned by your [MTV's] parent company, Viacom — so maybe [chairman] Sumner [Redstone] can get involved here in this — but they seem indifferent to any sort of public outcry for this.”
According to MTV News, budget was the main problem for getting the film made and it sounds like there may not be a solution.
“It’s very flattering to us,” Will said the support fans have been showing for the sequel. “We love it, but apparently, they don’t care.”
