The native New Yorker explained, "I will be donating this grant to the Elton John AIDS foundation and I will be working closely with them to ensure that the money goes specifically to those orphans and disadvantaged youth in America born with HIV or AIDS."

Her philanthropic ways didn't go unnoticed to John Lennon's widow. In addition to her Born This Way Foundation, Lady Gaga contributed to Haiti's earthquake relief in 2010 and the tsunami relief in Japan.

Yoko told Reuters Television, "Lady Gaga is in a position of number one as a singer-songwriter. And when you are number one you don't want to risk yourself. And she did."
