American Idol cast off Aaron Kelly told reporters in a press conference call today that Harry Connick Jr. should replace Simon Cowell on the hit FOX reality show.
Aaron, 17, who was eliminated from the show last night, said, of Harry, “He’d be a great replacement for Simon. He’s very honest and he’s going to tell you [things] straight out. I think Harry Çonnick would fit the bill perfectly.”
This week on Idol, Harry was guest mentor for the singers and wasn’t shy about giving his opinions and showing them tough love. With Simon leaving Idol after this year to start his own show, The X Factor, on FOX, fans have been wondering all season who could replace the famous TV judge.
Aaron revealed that he’s just wild about the idea of Harry filling Simon’s chair. “We were talking about that a little bit today,” he told reporters. The aspiring singer was asked if Harry’s interested in the gig and Aaron replied: “I’m not sure. I don’t know how that works or anything but [in] my opinion, he’d be a great Simon. He’d be a great person to fill in Simon’s spot.”
