With the one coveted save of the season still on the table, the judges of American Idol didn't use it on Janelle Arthur last night. Randy Jackson delivered the news saying,"There's two for and two not for, so unfortunately, baby, it's not unanimous. We're not gonna use it." Ouch, Randy. Couldn't you have let her down a little easier with a "dawg" thrown in there? Just sayin'.
But since the top five of this season are all girls, we gotta take a look back at the most powerful female voices to come out of the show ever, like Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, and Kelly Clarkson. Remember them? Watch below!
Kelly Clarkson, "Respect"— Let's take it back to the beginning. Kelly kicked off the first season with her head-turning vocals. Aside from the awkwardness of Ryan Seacrest's insanely frosted tips, this is one of our favorite American Idol moments of all time. Her rendition just makes us feel like being all fabulous and sassy.
Jennifer Hudson, "I Have Nothing"—Before the Grammys and all her other shiny awards, Jennifer was still plugging away at the top 8 in American Idol. She delivered a winning performance of Whitney's "I Have Nothing" that left us speechless.
Jessica Sanchez, "I Will Always Love You"— After we saw fellow AI alum Jennifer Hudson's killer interpretations of the late Whitney Houston's classics, we didn't think it was possible to get better. We were wrong. Jessica Sanchez brought actual tears to America's eyes with her mind-blowing performance of the Whitney favorite, "I Will Always Love You" last season. It gives us chills just talking about it. If you haven't already, you want to see this performance.
Carrie Underwood, "Alone" —Dubbed by many as her best performance on Idol, Carrie proved herself as a voice to be reckoned with in season 4. She brought the crowd to its feet and was on her way to winning the whole darn thing.
