With the sudden death of Amy Winehouse on Saturday morning in England, her family released a statement on Sunday expressing their sorrow and asked for “privacy” to mourn the loss of the 27-year-old “Rehab” singer.
“Our family has been left bereft by the loss of Amy, a wonderful daughter, sister, niece,” Amy’s parents Mitchell and Janis Winehouse, along with brother Alex Winehouse, said in a statement via E! Online over the weekend, “She leaves a gaping hole in our lives.”
After such a tragedy, Amy’s family appreciates the support from friends and fans, but needs time alone to grieve.
“We are coming together to remember her and we would appreciate some privacy and space at this terrible time.”
Amy was found dead in her Camden apartment on Saturday, although the cause behind her passing is yet to be made clear.
