Former Judge Larry Seidlin, who presided over the case of where Anna Nicole Smith would be buried, claims in his new book that someone is responsible for her death and guilty of manslaughter, and now he's saying her passing is a "potential murder case."

Seidlin made the remark to TMZ, following up on the opinions published in his book, The Killing of Anna Nicole Smith.

He says the Seminole Indian Police Department wasn't sophisticated enough when it came to investigating her death in 2007.

"They can tell you how to get to Elm Street or the public library, but this case was too much for them," Seidlin says, adding, "I think there was foul play and it should be investigated by an independent agency."

He says the former Playmate passed away under "highly unusual circumstances."

"She never left her room. She checked into room 607 at the Hard Rock and never left. When she was checking in she couldn't even stand up."

So who did it? That's one area Seidlin isn't offering his opinion on.

UPDATE: Gary Bitner, spokesperson for the Seminole Tribe of Florida, released the following statement to OK! regarding Seidlin's comments:

"Seidlin is wrong.  Seminole Tribe Police completed a comprehensive investigation of the death of Anna Nicole Smith in complete cooperation with the Broward County Medical Examiner, the Office of the State Attorney and the Crime Lab of the Broward Sheriff's Office.  Since then, Seminole Police have worked closely with California investigators, who are prosecuting criminal charges in the case."
