She's still sporting the pixie cut she initially got to play Fantine, the terminally ill prostitute, and opened up about the 30 pound weight loss required to realistically mimic the character's struggle with tuberculosis.

"I had to be obsessive about it — the idea was to look near death,” she says of undergoing a cleanse and then followoing a strict diet of only two thin squares of dried oatmeal paste a day. “Looking back on the whole experience — and I don’t judge it in any way — it was definitely a little nuts. It was definitely a break with reality, but I think that’s who Fantine is anyway.”

While she's beefed up a bit and morphed back to her pre-Les Mis self, she's definitely keeping the hair.

"I love the short-haired lifestyle,” she told the magazine. “It’s awesome that I was able to go for a hike right before I came here to meet you, quickly wash my hair, and now it’s dry…I feel prettier, and much more myself. I guess I just feel much more satisfied with less now.”
