Mischa Barton is hard at work again, putting in time today at a photo shoot for her new TV series The Beautiful Life in Queens, N.Y. Although today was supposed to be the first day of filming, weather problems have reportedly pushed back the schedule once again.

Despite rumors Mischa would be kicked-off the series after a much publicized meltdown and hospitalization earlier this month, Mischa’s co-stars say the star is doing great and had no problems during the past week of table readings, costume fittings and hair and makeup tests. But all this waiting has gotten her co-stars anxious to start filming.

“I found out last week that filming was going to be pushed and our sets weren’t ready,” co-star Sara Paxton told OK! at the Model Home Project kick-off sponsored by Models.com and Double Cross Vodka at the Gates in NYC July 29. “I was fine with it. I’m excited to work.”

Despite reports Mischa was to blame for the previous schedule set-backs, her co-stars have nothing to say but the best about the actress.

“She’s hilarious and she’s just really fun to work with,” Sara says. “She’s sarcastic and cracking jokes all the time.”

While Mischa was a no-show at The Model Home Project’s Power of WE charity kick-off event, which raises money for disaster relief, other cast members spent the night dancing and mingling among professional models who came out to support the cause – which was a perfect opportunity for some character research.

The Beautiful Life is about six models living in a co-ed residence in the heart of Manhattan and we’re all at different levels of success,” says actor Ben Hollingsworth, whose character is inspired by the show's creator, former male model turned A-list actor Ashton Kutcher.

“It’s based on Ashton Kutcher and what happened to him as a young guy coming to New York and getting thrown into the modeling industry,” says Ben, who met Ashton while he filmed The Joneses with Ashton’s wife, Demi Moore.

“We were shooting in Atlanta, Georgia and he flew in for her birthday and threw her like a surprise birthday at one of his restaurants,” Ben tells OK!. “That was the first time I got to meet him and he seemed like such a sweet guy. He gave her a birthday cake and he had this really heartfelt speech to her about how special she was in his life. He gave me a good foundation to build this character around.”

“The first episode is real juicy,” Ben says. “The public is going to be real shocked!”

The show makes its debut on September 16.
