The hit Bachelor series has been ordered by ABC to create a spin-off where former contestants will live together in a house — Big Brother style. The show’s title? Bachelor Pad.
The new series will be produced by Mike Fleiss’ Next Entertainment in association with Warner Horizon, The Hollywood Reporter says.
The show will bring back 20 “all-star” contestants from the past 13 seasons of The Bachelor and five seasons of The Bachelorette.
The inspiration for the show came from the real-life relationships that have continued amongst former Bachelor contestants, executive producer Martin Hilton explained.
“All these people have been friends, been enemies, they date each other and bring all this great backstory to the show,” Martin said. “It seemed like there was an opportunity to combine that world with a new competitive reality show.”
The contestants that live in the house will compete in challenges that have been inspired by past seasons and each episode will end with someone being kicked out of the house.
Bachelor host Chris Harrison is on board to host, and ABC has ordered seven episodes.
A premiere date for the show is unknown, but an be expected in the late summer after The Bachelorette finale.
The cast has not been released, but former winners are said to be included. Now we’ll have Bachelor type shows year round!
