Beloved TV Actress Peggy Rea Dies at 89

TV actress Peggy Rea, best known for playing Boss Hogg’s wife on the 1980's TV series The Dukes of Hazzard, died Saturday of congestive heart failure. She was 89.

Peggy passed away at her home in Toluca Lake, Calif., The New York Times reports.

She was loved for playing jolly supporting characters with names like Lulu, Bertha, and Bessie on hit television shows and played lead characters on The Waltons and Grace Under Fire.

Peggy began her career on Broadway landing roles in a 1950 revival of A Streetcar Named Desire and the Cole Porter musical Out of This World, according to the NYT.
