Sure, Natalie Portman may seem like the girl next door but in the psychological thriller, Black Swan, she's anything but sweet. Last night the Golden Globe winner for Best Actress shared a major fashion faux pas on the red carpet as well as how she morphed into a ballerina for the acclaimed role.

It's hard to believe the 29-year-old was merely a teen when she experienced her very first red carpet ride! She told reporters, "I remember I was 13 years old, the premier of The Professional, and I remember I wore a Betsey Johnson dress that I had worn to a bar mitzvah like two weeks before. My mom bought me — my mom’s right there. She bought me this coat that I thought was really beautiful that was faux fur cow print, and I wore it feeling like the most glamorous person in the world. But it might have been a mistake."

Former fashion faux pas aside, there's one mistake she's not making right now and that's her work ethic. Natalie told reporters, "I think I learned about how much I could work. I think I learned the extent of my discipline which was put to the test every day by the rigors of the art form that I have so much new respect for because of getting just a glimpse of what that lifestyle is like." In fact, Natalie previously took ballet until she was 12-years-old and then resumed when she took this role. She adds, "So I had a good 15-year break in between."

So, how does the Golden Globe winner stay in shape? "Well, I usually do some sort of physical something, so that – obviously because the training for this was so rigorous, we trained. And actually, every break we had on the film they would take me through a barre to keep me warm. So we were doing barres all day long staying warm and staying ready to dance so that I wouldn't get injured at all which luckily there were no serious ones."

And now that she's pregnant Natalie has been staying fit by swimming every day. She told reporters, "When I am in a womb-like environment, I am hoping the baby is feeling peaceful in its environment."
