Beyoncé has delayed a concert she had planned to perform in Malaysia after Islamic conservatives there voice accusations that the show would be immoral, the Associated Press reports.

The event's organizer revealed today in a statement that the Oct. 25 show at Kuala Lumpur stadium "has been postponed to a future date to be announced shortly," Malaysian entertainment company Marctensia said. "The postponement is solely (the) decision of the artist and has nothing to do with other external reasons."

However the spokesperson did not clarify whether the decision was influenced by criticism from the country's largest opposition group, the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party which earlier said the show should be canceled because it would promote "Western sexy performances."

Beyoncé canceled a performance in Malaysia in 2007 as well, citing a scheduling conflict.

Female artists at Malaysian concerts are required by government rules to cover up from the shoulders to knees, with no cleavage showing.
