Bruce Springsteen, Christina Aguilera, Jimmy Fallon and More Raise $23 Million for Hurricane Sandy Victims

Congratulations and thank yous are in order for everyone who appeared in NBC's Hurricane Sandy: Coming Together telethon! Nearly $23 million was raised for the Red Cross, which will go toward aid for the victims of the superstorm that devastated much of the tri-state area one week ago.

"We are incredibly grateful and humbled by this outpouring of support for those who are suffering as a result of Superstorm Sandy," a joint statement from Red Cross and NBC Universal read. "Our preliminary results of nearly $23 million raised are an extraordinary example of how the American people pull together in times of disaster. Their generous donations will go directly to those in need, and we urge the public to continue to give. We also thank the dedicated and talented team at NBCUniversal for the millions of people they have helped through this telethon."

Helping to raise the funds were Staten Island native Christina Aguilera, Long Island native Billy Joel, Freehold, N.J.-born Bruce Springsteen, Sayreville, N.J. rocker Jon Bon Jovi and Aerosmith (frontman Steven Tyler grew up in Westchester, N.Y. Jimmy Fallon, Whoopi Goldberg, Tina Fey, Danny DeVito, Kevin Bacon, Mary J. Blige and Matt Lauer were also among those who took part in the evening.
