Ryan Seacrest announced on last night’s American Idol that contestant Casey Abrams would not be appearing for the results show as he had been hospitalized for a second time this season. So how is Casey feeling now?
“You’ll notice that Casey is missing from the group. He is unfortunately sick and in the hospital right now,” Ryan announced (via MTV News). “Wave to him. … We know you’re watching buddy, feel better — shout-out to the nurses. Get back here soon, OK?”
Casey Tweeted an update on his condition to his Idol fans writing, “Hey guys, thanks for the well wishes, I got some nice fresh blood in me and feeling better. People at Idol & Cedars are treatin me real good.”
According to a Hollywood Reporter source, the 19 year old was reportedly received two blood transfusions to treat a condition called ulcerative colitis, which is an inflammatory condition that affects the lining of the large intestine.
On Feb. 23, Casey was also taken to the hospital complaining of stomach pains.
While Casey was saved from elimination last night after performing Joe Cocker‘s version of the Beatles’ “With a Little Help From My Friends,” he could potentially be sent home if he is unable to perform next week.
But based on his Tweet, it sounds like Casey is on the road to recovery…we hope!
