It's been three years since we've seen Catherine Zeta-Jones on the big screen, but the Oscar and Tony Award- winning actress is ready to "kick those dancing legs up again" in Rock of Ages after battling various health issues.

Catherine stopped by Today this morning to chat with Matt Lauer about her movie-musical, her husband Michael Douglas' cancer recovery and her struggle with bipolar disorder.

"It's been a while since I was in a movie, but it was so much fun," Catherine said of starring in Rock of Ages. "Any chance I get to sing and dance, even at home, I take."

And although she plays the "stiff and uptight" wife of Mayor Whitmore in the film, in real life, Catherine is anything but an uptight wife. She stayed by Michael's side through his battle with throat cancer, keeping an eye on their two children, Dylan and Carys, and making sure he kept his spirits high while she faced her own illness.

"I take my hat off to him, because he never once lost his sense of humor, even in his darkest days. It's a terrible, terrible process to go through, but he was strong throughout," Catherine gushed of Michael. "It’s one of those things... it takes its toll on you all."

It definitely took its own toll on Catherine, whose private battle with bipolar disorder was publically revealed following Michael's cancer diagnosis.

"When you get hit by that, sidewiped by that in a way, all those underlying issues that you know you have come out," Catherine explained to Matt, adding, "I feel great, it's time to move on. I'm one of many, many people who suffer with this, one of many people who are caring for cancer survivors — Michael's two years clean, I'm very happy to report! It puts real life into perspective."
