Breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate spoke out this week after hearing the news that Giuliana Rancic has been diagnosed with breast cancer. The star of Up All Night knows what she’s going through and wants Giuliana to know that she’s here for her. Find out more after the jump!
The Emmy winner told E! News, “I’m here for her.” She added, ”I know that journey so well, how that feels to get that phone call. I get what’s she’s going through.”
In August 2008, Christina was told she was “100 percent clear” of breast cancer after undergoing treatment. She also had a preventative double mastectomy. At the time she stated, ”I didn’t want to go back to the doctors every four months for testing and squishing and everything. I just wanted to kind of get rid of this whole thing for me.”

On Monday morning, Giuliana revealed that she was diagnosed with early stage cancer and that she’ll take time off to undergo a lumpectomy as well as radiation treatment. Giuliana told her E! News co-anchor Ryan Seacrest, ”I’ve been keeping this secret from a lot of dear friends for a while now, and it’s nice to get it out there and not hide anymore.”

“I started realizing I could be an example for women to not just be aware of breast cancer, but to act on it. To make an appointment, to give themselves an exam. Because truly, Ryan, the bottom line is, the earlier you find it, the better chance you have of survival.”
