CNN Pulls Plug on Eliot Spitzer's Show

Eliot Spitzer's show on CNN, In the Arena, has gotten the ax. Originally debuting in October under another name, the former governor debated news with The Washington Post columnist Kathleen Parker only to change the format months later into a solo show for Eliot. Well, it's officially been put to pasture.

According to The New York Post, Eliot's show got ditched after months of declining ratings. Last night when he signed off, he quoted former President Theodore Roosevelt:  "The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena...who strives valiantly."

Considering its rival, Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, typically snags 3 million viewers, In the Arena had been struggling and pulled in approximately 595,000 viewers each night since January.  The show originally began as Parker Spitzer with Eliot debating with Kathleen but according to The New York Post, there was no chemistry and in February the show changed the format to a solo endeavor by Eliot and name change.

Although it's unclear as to what's next for Eliot, an insider told the newspaper that CNN has an "alternative role" for Eliot and he's "considering the job."
