Looking fresh-faced and chatting with pals, Demi Moore seemed well on the road to recovery during her first postrehab public appearance, to help launch Lifetime's new show The Conversation with Amanda de Cadenet in Beverly Hills on April 17.
But insiders tell Star that the actress, who executive produces the talkfest, continues to struggle with the personal demons that plunged her to rock bottom three months ago. And the wounds from her humiliating breakup with Ashton Kutcher last fall are far from healed.
"Demi says she's eager to get back out there with dating and her career, but she's not ready for the stresses that come with that," an insider explains. "She's in denial about her health, and she simply did not stay in rehab long enough. Demi is still fragile, emotionally and physically. Friends worry she's headed for a relapse soon."
Demi checked into rehab in January, soon after she was hospitalized for overdosing on unnamed substances at a Beverly Hills hotel party. In the preceding months, the 49-year-old had decimated her body with a dangerous diet of Adderall and energy drinks, as Star reported. Now, though she has regained a few pounds, "Demi isn't maintaining a healthy diet yet," the insider reveals.
