Dancing with the Stars has really outdone themselves this season creating the perfect partner match-ups. From James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd's undeniable chemistry to the way Maks Chmerkovskiy and Meryl Davis balance each other, everyone seems paired with the ideal person. But Amy Purdy and Derek Hough may just have the most special relationship of all.

"He’s been by my side through all of this," Amy said of Derek backstage after the April 14 show. "He’s so supportive. He’s right there. He always says, 'I’m your wall, I’m your stability,' and he really is—emotionally and physically."

That was the week the pair danced the waltz as Cinderella and Prince Charming for the Disney-themed episode, a challenge for the paralympic snowboarder.

"It was by far the most physically challenging one," says Derek. "To have that balance and control when you don’t have the mobility in your toes and ankles is extremely difficult. She was really worried about being elegant and being graceful. Being a woman, being a girl, you want to always feel that way. In that moment I think she had the realization, 'I can be beautiful. I can be graceful. I can be elegant.' It was wonderful. It was a fairytale ending."

Derek never ceases to be amazed by Amy's determination, but thought it was helpful for viewers to see another side to her as well.

"We’ve seen her be brave and strong but to have that moment of vulnerability was also nice, too, because she had to overcome that," he said.
