Does Simon Cowell Think Mariah Carey Will Make a Good 'American Idol' Judge?

Now that the news has officially been confirmed that Mariah Carey will be a judge on American Idol next season, we knew it wouldn't be too long until the world's most outspoken judge voiced his opinion: Simon Cowell.

Does Simon think having Mariah as a judge is a good move for the show?

"I'm happy for her," said Simon at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour, reports The Hollywood Reporter. "I like Mariah. I think she's going to find it difficult to say no... She's sweet."

Was the caustic judge perhaps making a dig at Mariah, that she won't be good at this since she is too sweet. Simon tried to get his point across even more by pointing how not-so-sweet Britney Spears has been during the auditions for The X Factor.

"I'm not going to lie about this," Simon said. "I always said the No. 1 person I wanted on one of these shows was Britney. She's intriguing. You see a different side to her and she's a really great judge. ... Britney is quite mean, which you'll soon discover." But what about Simon's other new judge, Demi Lovato: He referred to her as a "brat" but really "likable."

Well, Britney may be meaner, but it looks like Mariah will be making more. Britney reportedly is raking in $15 million to judge, while Mariah is rumored to be snagging a whopping $18 million for one year.
