Emma Watson Felt "Sick" On Learning About Her $32 Million Fortune

Harry Potter star Emma Watson felt "sick, emotional" when she discovered, aged 17, that she was worth $32 million.

The 20-year-old tells UK Vogue via UK's Daily Telegraph newspaper that she was 17 or 18 when her father sat her down for the “money conversation”.

Until then, maintaining a semblance of normal teenage life, Emma had been on a weekly allowance of $80. “By the third or fourth film, the money was starting to get… serious. I had no idea. I felt sick, very emotional.

But she says she's barely touched her money, and she describes herself as being “straight and boring”, a lifestyle that was reinforced by the Harry Potter movies, in which she wasn't allowed to change her image.

“For the nine years I was on Harry Potter I was contractually obliged not to cut my hair, not to tan,” she said.
