Although Alex McCord is no longer a Real Housewife, the former Bravo star and hubby Simon van Kempen are taking it to the tube to air out their relationship.

For the second season of Couples Therapy, the Brooklyn-based pair is appearing on the counseling show. Simon told a site, “The Housewives franchise, as well as lot of reality TV shows, are called docudramas, but in a lot of ways, they are doctored dramas or they’re surreality. They are not reality anymore."

He added, "With Couples Therapy, you film 24/7 for 21 days, you put five couples in a house and things are bound to happen. There are no storyline producers running around… It was refreshing.”

Alex pretty much agreed being on-air with her hubby instead of other housewives with tons of squabbles was downright refreshing without producers and also without alcohol. ”As this reality TV phenomenon has grown and morphed, people have a taste for real, actual reality. It sounds like being sober changed the tone for this VH1 show in particular. Simon noted, “We lived in a dry house for 21 days. So if there’s anything being said or if anyone is falling over, it’s not because they’re drunk, it’s because they’ve reacted that way. Alcohol fuels a lot of these reality TV dramas, but this one, the drama is not alcohol-induced.”

Couples Therapy airs on Wednesday nights at 10 p.m. ET on Vh1.
