Gerard Depardieu has yet to address the media firestorm he created by relieving himself on an airplane traveling from Paris to Dublin Tuesday night. But a recent report cites sources close to the French actor, claiming that he is sorry for how the events unfolded.
According to the UK’s Telegraph, Gerard’s entourage said he tried to urinate into a bottle “as discreetly as possible” while on a board the City Jet airline, and said he was “sorry” that some inevitably spilled on to the airplane’s carpet.
A passenger on the flight told The New York Post that it was clear Gerard had “been drinking.”
But friends of the actor maintain, via the Telegraph, that Gerard was “completely sober” but desperate to relieve himself. As the plane was delayed, the bathrooms were locked.
So his two travel buddies, one of whom was French actor Edouard Baer, offered him an empty bottle as a “last resort.”
Sources say he did it “without any provocation and after making sure he wasn’t seen.”
City Jet made light of the situation yesterday, Tweeting, “As you may have seen on the news, we are busy mopping the floor of one of our planes this morning…” followed by, “We’d also like to remind all passengers that our planes are fully equipped with toilet facilities…”
