Awards season has officially kicked off! First it was the SAG Awards nominations, now it is time for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Golden Globe Awards. And as everyone always says, the Globes are the true pre-cursor to who will be receiving those Oscar nods.

Of course, many of our favorites were nominated as expected, from George Clooney for The Descendants to Meryl Streep for The Iron Lady. But there are always a few surprises that sneak in there.

Kristin Wiig had a stellar year with her hit movie, Bridesmaids, and it wasn't a surprise that she was nominated for her acting in it, but we were so surprised that she was not nominated for Best Screenplay. The movie was the success that it was because of the fantastic dialogue and hilarity that ensues in every scene. We think that they could have squeezed her into that category over maybe, dare we say it, George for The Ides of March.

Speaking of that film: After being snubbed by the SAG Awards for any of his three movies, Ryan Gosling was nominated in the comedy category for Crazy, Stupid, Love, but then when it came to drama, he was nominated for his role in The Ides of March. We felt that Drive was the better nomination for Ryan in this category and one that would give him more of a shot at the prize.

Let's not forget about the small screen. The TV categories came with a few surprises of their own, as brand-new show American Horror Story recieved a nod for Best Drama and knocked out fan-favorites like Breaking Bad and The Good Wife. Meanwhile, Glee was nominated for for Best Comedy or Musical, but no love for Chris Colfer or Jane Lynch this year? We did, however, see surprising nods for Matt LeBlanc in Episodes and Johnny Galecki for The Big Bang Theory.

Who were you most surprised to see nominated... or not nominated?
