On Wednesday night, Sesame Street came to NYC! To help celebrate Sesame Workshop’s 9th annual gala, some furry friends came all the way from the street to greet guests and fans alike. Cookie Monster, Grover, Abby Cadabby and Telly Monster, along with Kami (who came all the way from South Africa!) descended at Cipriani 42nd Street to join host Deborah Roberts and GMA host George Stephanopoulos at the event.

Deborah told OK! what an honor it was for her to be the host at the gala.

“It’s always a blast. I’ve been here for a few years, but this is my first opportunity to host," she explained. "I have to tell you I’m a little nervous because I have to share the stage with the Muppets!

"It’s not exactly easy with Kami and Cookie and Grover. I think Elmo had another engagement tonight, but it’s a busy stage. I’m comforted because it takes some pressure off to spend sometime with these guys.”

Grover also spoke to OK! saying that his "tux was at the dry cleaners” along with his Super Grover cape, which is why he didn’t dress up.

When OK! asked him what celebrity he’d love to have on Sesame Street, he said Paul McCartney. “We could sing all of Abbey Road together!”

Sounds like the best idea ever. We also vote that Justin Bieber show up soon!
