'Idol' Contestant Jacob Lusk Was Part of Nate Dogg's Gospel Group: "I Love You Man"

The tragic loss of hip hop legend Nate Dogg shook Hollywood today. It also struck a chord with American Idol contestant Jacob Lusk who shared a special relationship with the star.

Nate Dogg formed a gospel group called "InNate Praise" in 2007, TMZ reports, and Jacob auditioned and landed a spot.

The duo became friends through their gospel choir connection, according to TMZ, and "their relationship blossomed over the next two years ... as Jacob performed with the group at churches around L.A. County."

In a video obtained by TMZ, Nate and Jacob are together in Nate's studio in North Hollywood.
