Britney Spears was excited to announce her tour with Enrique Iglesias on Good Morning America on March 28, but he had no idea that behind the scenes, there was tension over the demands Enrique would have to meet if they were to co-headline together. Says an insider, “His team took one look at her ‘rules’ and said, ‘If she’s this demanding, he should not be going on tour.’ ” Britney’s rep says, “these allegations aren’t true.”

Britney’s people offered Enrique extra money, the insider reveals, but he quit anyway. “Enrique is a huge fan of Britney’s and would have loved to have worked with her but this wasn’t the right fit,” says another confidante.

In the end, Enrique Tweeted an apology to his fans for the confusion, saying he would announce his own U.S. summer dates at another time. “So hope to see all of you soon.” A Britney insider told OK!, “Enrique pulled out of the tour, but it wasn’t over the rider.”

Even Carson Daly is shocked by the rules that Britney’s insiders have imposed. Britney reportedly refused to do a radio interview with him unless it was pre-recorded and pre-approved. She seems to distrust anyone outside her circle. “It’s not easy for anyone to do the press circuit, but it’s especially hard for Britney,” says a pal. “She finds the interviews very stressful.”

Yet performing is what makes Britney happiest, so there are some who believe she will pull through and do what it takes to make this comeback a success. “She’s having a rough start, but she’s a fighter,” insists the insider. “She’s going to surprise everyone.”
