Heads turned recently when Jennifer Aniston stepped out for a photo call in Madrid, Spain, sporting sleek, shoulder-length hair. After five years with the same straight, layered hairstyle, she debuted a sassy little bob at the Just Go With It premiere on Feb. 22 that made instant headlines around the world. But the new ‘do, say friends, is only the latest sign of a serious transformation in Jen’s life.OK! NEWS: JENNIFER ANISTON’S NEW HAIRCUT: WHICH STYLE DO YOU LIKE BEST?
“It was just time for a change,” her longtime stylist, Chris McMillan, who created the famous “Rachel” haircut, told Allure. “There are so many long, layered hairstyles. It’s so many long, layered hairstyles. It’s about keeping things simple.”
Adds a pal: “Jen has always played it so safe; she’s worn black, kept her hair the same, kept the same group of friends. She’s finally turning the page.”
In seeking change, Jennifer has occasionally consulted with intuitive life strategist Suzannah Galland, who has worked with stars like Demi Moore.
“Long hair sometimes hides our faces,” Galland says. “For Jennifer, it seems that she’s coming out, showing a more confident, sensual side. I think it’s vibrant, fabulous. It’s a very powerful statement. She doesn’t have to hide behind her hair.”
Change doesn’t come easily for Jennifer (who turned 42 on Feb. 11)–she once confessed that she ate the same Cobb salad every day for the 10 years she starred on Friends–but she’s finally branching out.
