Ja Rule turned himself over to authorities today to serve his two-year prison sentence in New York.

TMZ talked to the rapper's executive producer, Seven, who was at the courthouse with Ja Rule.

Before he turned himself in, Seven said Ja Rule spent quality time with his wife, friends and family.

Ja Rule pled guilty to an attempted criminal possession of a weapon charge in 2010.
