After Jackie Chan heard about 8-year-old Natalie Nakatani, who was diagnosed with leukemia and is trying to find a life-saving bone marrow match, he had to help. The star took action and filmed a PSA on location in Beijing last week pleading for the public to help.

Jackie urged everyone to help the little girl from San Francisco find a match by registering at DKMS, the world’s largest bone marrow donor center.

“I recently found out about an 8-year-old girl who has leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant,” Jackie said on his Facebook page. “I recorded a public service announcement [below] to appeal for your help and now I am asking all my Facebook fans to do what they can. Please help!”

You can also check out a very heartwarming video made by Natalie’s 5-year-old brother Sean asking you to register to save his big sister’s life at hopefornatalie.com.

Natalie was diagnosed with leukemia two years ago and after five rounds of chemotherapy last year her leukemia was in remission, but now it is back.

According to her doctors, Natalie needs to have a bone marrow transplant within the next few weeks in order to survive.

A patient in need of a transplant is most likely to find a compatible donor who is of their same ethnicity. Natalie does not match either of her parents or her little brother, as is usual in almost 70 percent of cases, and also doesn’t match any of the 13 million marrow donors registered worldwide.

Only 7 percent on the national Be The Match Registry are Asian-Americans. Due to her Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese mixed racial heritage, Natalie faces particularly difficult odds, but you can help.
