Janet Jackson may have been one of the top choices to replace Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger as a mentor on The X Factor, but sadly, she's declined the offer. Sorry, Simon Cowell

The singer released a statement today, saying she is "very flattered that X Factor let me know that I was being considered for next season, but it just wouldn't be possible."

Her rep revealed to E! News that Janet would be too busy with her Number Ones Up Close and Personal tour as well as her role in Tyler Perry's upcoming flick.

The thing is, producers of the hit FOX talent show never actually had a meeting with Janet and her team, so this was never an official business deal. Guess Janet just wanted to put that to rest. OK!
