January Jones‘ former Mad Men on-screen son, Jared Gilmore, said she’s not “as approachable” as the other cast members, but he was actually talking about her character and not January herself. At least, that’s what John Slattery thinks the young star meant to say!
Jared, 11, told TV Guide recently what advice he’d give to the next young star who takes over his role as Bobby Draper on Mad Men.
“Be careful around January [Jones],” Jared said of his on-screen mom. “She’s not as approachable as the others.”
“She’s really serious about what she does,” he explained. “Everyone else is so nice.”
But his Mad Men co-star John doesn’t seem to think Jared meant January herself is not approachable.
“Well, it’s an intimidating character,” John explained to E! News. “I mean, that’s the character. Betty Draper is an intimidating woman I suppose, if you were a seven-year-old boy [or] her son.”
So despite what others may have said about January being a diva in some respects, John says it isn’t true.
“No, she’s a sweetheart,” he said. “We got lucky. We don’t have anybody like that.”
Do you think Jared meant January or her character?
