Prankster James Williams either has too much time on his hands or, in my opinion, he’s a diabolical genius with a knack for creating fear of the fun variety.
Williams’ talent is evident in the above video, which shows what happens when he recreated the creepy figure from the movie The Ring.
“I used scraps of wood for the television bracket. I would pick up bits when we were out shopping,” he confesses. “The missus would ask, ‘Why do you need rubber gloves?'”
For the hands—though he couldn’t tell her that. Instead, he used the excuse that “they’d be handy when I’m washing my paint brushes.”
And he didn’t tell her he needed to make a paper mache head when she asked, “What do you want party balloons for?”
Williams says the rest of the figure was constructed using bubble wrap, brown paper, old clothes, coat hanger, tape and paint. “I worked on it every now and again when the missus was out and hid it in the attic,” he says. “After that I waited for the perfect moment when she would be asleep in front of the TV.”
He even went as far as setting up the prank in advance by letting his girlfriend know that he was certain he “saw a woman standing at the end of our bed in the middle of the night.”
Watch the video above to see what happens when Williams’ girlfriend gets her own glimpse of this mystery lady!
